EDIUS HD is a professional realtime HD / SD online content creation solution for broadcast studios. The combination of hardware and software gives EDIUS HD realtime capabilities that are unrivaled by systems costing ten times its price and provides professional HD editing and content creation capabilities to suit any environment. The EDIUS HD solution is comprised of three components, EDIUS Pro realtime HD/SD editing software, the Canopus HD software codec and the HDRX-E1 HD/SD input/output hardware card.

Canopus HD Software Codec
At the heart of EDIUS HD is Canopus 's proprietary HD software codec. Developed through years of experience in video editing technology, the Canopus HD software codec provides high-quality, realtime compression, realtime processing, filtering and decoding of multiple HD streams. The Canopus HD software codec supports HD signal recording and playback from the hard disk to HD-D5, HDCAM or DVCProHD VTRs.

Canopus HQ Codec
EDIUS HD also features the revolutionary Canopus HQ codec. A completely new codec unlike HD, Canopus 's HQ codec offers the highest image quality and performance available today in any HD editing platform.

Realtime Productivity with EDIUS Pro
EDIUS Pro software redefines video production efficiency with realtime, multi-track HD editing, compositing, chroma keying, titling and timeline output. The EDIUS interface provides editors with instant responsiveness when maneuvering through the most complex HD/SD timeline projects and while handling hundreds of clips. Virtually every aspect of the user interface is customizable including window positioning and layout, available buttons, effects presets and Bin window displays.

Seamless HD / SD Mixed Editing
The transition from SD to HD content is gradual, and with EDIUS HD, editors are not restricted to working in just one format. EDIUS HD seamlessly handles SD and HD clips within complex timeline compositions in realtime and can either upconvert or downconvert without losing image quality for realtime output. Mixed editing means that editors no longer need to upconvert SD video in preparation for editing.

Additionally, HD projects can also be monitored in SD.

Advanced Editing Features
Editing operations within EDIUS Pro have been designed to meet the demands of broadcast editors. EDIUS Pro features unlimited video, audio and title tracks, for true nonlinear editing power — perfect for complex compositing. Editing modes include ripple, slip, rolling and slide modes for smooth, precise editing of video sequences. EDIUS Pro also features three-point and four-point editing, direct-to-timeline voice over with audio input level meters and transition effects between different tracks in either HD or SD.

Export HD to Other Formats
EDIUS HD is equipped with ProCoder Express for EDIUS, which uses the same video encoding engine as ProCoder, Canopus 's high-quality video format conversion software. ProCoder Express supports timeline exporting of multipass, variable bitrate MPEG-1 and MPEG-2, Windows Media™, QuickTime™, DivX® and RealVideo®. ProCoder Express for EDIUS also features DVD authoring directly from the timeline, and can even use timeline markers as DVD chapter points.

Inscriber® TitleMotion™ HD for Canopus
Inscriber TitleMotion HD for Canopus provides editors with tools to create high-quality titles for their projects and features realtime preview of all titles during composition. Featuring keyframed animation capabilities within both 2D and 3D spaces, TitleMotion HD can produce polished broadcast titles within minutes. TitleMotion titles can be created and stored within the Bin window, or created directly from the editing timeline.

Canopus HDRX-E1 - HD-SDI / SDI Input and Output Board
EDIUS HD features a new proprietary HD-SDI input/output board. The HDRX-E1 includes an RS-422 connector to provide accurate VTR control and is equipped with common connectors for HD-SDI and SDI, two output connectors and a reference input connector.
