The forthcoming Solitaire is the newest digital video editor to join the line-up of Casablanca. It is the result of the design study presented at last year’s IFA show, combining the fastest processor available, DVD burner, removable HD, City-Disk support for a portable hard-drive, one-button backup solution and more. With CBPAINT (another software product in development), running, the sleek designed, glass-housed cube turns into a full blown video and computer graphics workstation with storyboard import, timeline and titling functionality that is nearly limitless.

Optionally, a touch-display VGA screen from WACOM which allows you to draw, edit, as well as use SMART EDIT, inter-faces between CBPAINT and the pure video editing side of the system. This is clearly a revolution of power and functionality. Practically any effect, text or edit function that you can dream of will be realizable with the new machine. A truly professional Casablanca, with all the features that Casablanca has become so known for: SMART EDIT editing software, DVD DICON real time DVD conversion and more!

Casablanca Solitaire is equipped with the fastest available CPU and memory. It is prepared for full resolution HDTV editing. The employed codecs are already able to work with high definition video streams. Coming camcorder models with HD video support will – with future software updates – be compatible with Solitaire. With this in mind, an investment in the new top-of-the line Casablanca is a true, future-oriented decision.

Moreover, the new Casablanca also represents the whole bandwidth of ideas of the Casablanca development team. Software improvements and hardware feature are symbiotically connected in this new system. The Solitaire comes in a completely new housing case concept. The unit is more narrow and taller than a VCR. Both front and top are made of heavy, background-imprinted glass. A noble display shows the system’s operational status – on a lighted background using white, graphic elements. The exchangeable drive already featured in the Casablanca Prestige system is integrated and is accompanied by an additional, removable drive that can be carried on a belt: A portable hard-drive featuring a FireWire (I-Link) connector that saves data from a camera while actually recording. The rechargeable, battery-powered unit can be inserted into the Casablanca study and editing can begin!

A third, static hard-drive serves as a back-up medium: By pressing a sensor-driven field on the glass panel, the sys-tem copies the current project to the hard-drive. A modern main board with the fastest available processor makes for an extremely high rendering speed, which is further sup-ported by a first in the Casablanca system: Background rendering. Each and every pause during non-rendering work phases is used for automatic rendering. In most cases, this will result in no waiting times!
