JVC Bringing You New DV Technology
With a New Professional DV Camcorder and Two New VTRs
Building upon the amazing world-wide success of the GY-DV500, JVC’s new GY-DV5000 raises the professional DV bar yet again! And everyone by now should realize there is no picture quality difference in the DV formats.
JVC Professional has listened to the wants and needs of the rapidly growing DV community and has built the GY-DV5000 accordingly. This powerful video tool handles both full size and Mini DV cassettes extending recording time to 276 minutes. Of course, if you only need a 60 minute tape you don’t have to purchase a more expensive full-sized videotape. The GY-DV5000 plays back DVCAM recordings.
Full SMPTE time code, locked audio, SMPTE color bars, and balanced audio inputs are just some of the features brought over from the GY-DV500. Three half inch highly sensitive CCD’s make great pictures even in low light situations, something for which JVC cameras are well known.
BUT THERE IS MUCH MORE...
How about a 12 bit A/D converter for a 400% dynamic range? And a 24 bit Digital Signal Processor (DSP) for the finest reproduction of detail? There is also a color matrix, black stretch and black compress, adjustable gamma and a cinema gamma mode.
Add to that a color “tri-mode” LCD swing out monitor to show video, data, or a combination of both and an ENG viewfinder capable of moving forward and back as well as side to side. It may also be reconfigured to accommodate left eye dominant videographers.
Continuing with the trend begun with the GY-DV300 “Streamcorder”, the GY-DV5000 has its own streaming adapter, the KA-DV5000.
And, in a few months, JVC will make available a dockable Hard Disk Recorder (HDD) which, unlike most other available units, will be able to record in the “language” of most NLE systems thereby eliminating one of the greatest drawbacks of non-linear editing, the digitizing of your recorded material!
There is so much more to this camera than meets the eye!
NEW STUDIO VTR’S! The BR-DV3000 & BR-DV6000...
JVC has also announced a new studio DV recorder/player, the BR-DV3000. This compact but powerful unit makes affordable important features such as RS-422 control, time code cloning, black level management (0 or 7.5 IRE) and on-the-front-panel audio indication. These features are not available on comparable units that cost much more.
The BR-DV3000 will also record and play in the PAL format as well as NTSC and plays back DVCAM recordings. It will not, however, transcode from one to the other. Of course it takes either full size or MiniDV videocassettes.
Both the GY-DV5000 and the BR-DV3000 are available NOW.
But we did say “VTR’S”. JVC has announced the BR-DV6000 studio recorder/player/editor to be available
next Spring. It too will handle full and Mini DV videocassettes (NTSC and PAL) but adds the power of frame
accurate insert and assemble editing. A built-in “tri-mode” LCD display allows the direct screening of
recorded material.
The BR-DV6000 will also have its own optional plug-in streaming adapter.
