JVC JY-HD10 and the GR-HD1 HD Camcorders

They both shoot in HD, but what are the differences? And who are these difference important to?

Key Features of the JY-HD10 and the GR-HD1
1.18 MegapixelProgressive Scan CCD
This newly developed 1/3" CCD with 1,180,000 pixels* offers an improved dynamic range as well as high sensitivity and a high S/N ratio. By combining this progressive scan CCD with our original hybrid complementary-primary digital filter and processing circuitry, color reproductivity and horizontal resolution were improved. And with our exclusive driving system (patent pending) multi-format recording capability was attained.

F1.8-F1.9 Optical Zoom Lens
Developed for HD recording, this lens unit offers improved periphery resolution, brightness, and low distortion. The 10x zoom lens offers full range zooming with almost no variance in brightness. And by use of multi-coated lenses and a large lens hood, it enables capture of virtually ghostfree HD images.

Optical Image Stabilization
The camera incorporates optical image stabilization (lens shift system) to allow HD recording even at high zoom ratios. By virtue of the shift lens, combined with our newly developed lens servo circuit and camera-shake detection algorithm, it provides effective full-time stabilization for superior results when shooting still images as well as video.

Rotating Grip
Transition from a high to low angle shot without removing your hand from the grip or taking your eyes off the action. Get HD footage where bulkier cameras just won't allow.

Special Features for the JY-HD10 (for the Professional User)
High resolution LCD Color monitor and color viewfinder
With the strong 3.5" high-resolusion 2 Megapixel LCD monitor, you con shoot at angles and position where the viewfinder isn't comfortable or practical. The LCD monitor con be viewed simultaneously with the viewfinder incliding comprehense menu and camera condition information, especially convenient when working with others. The crisp, brilliant color viewfinder has a diopter to adjust for eyesight.

Mic Holder with XLR Audio Inputs
The carrying handle is equipped with dual XLR audio inputs that support unbalanced input. (Input sensitivity : -60dBs~-68dBs. Mic input nonvariable. No power supply capability.)

Audio Level Indicator
The audio input level can be confirmed at a glance, for precision monitoring.

Color Bar Generator
This built-in function is an essential guide to precision color matching and adjustment.

The JY-HD10 is targeted to the Professional Video Users, who expect features not available on the GR-HD1. The last difference between the two is cost, the JY-HD10 has a suggested list price of $3,995.00 while the GR-HD1 has a suggested list price of $3,499.95.
