Panasonic AJ-SD755 DVCPRO Studio Editing VTR with Jog/Shuttle Knob

The AJ-SD755, a smart 4th generation machine debuts. Since 1996 DVCPRO has been bringing features and benefits into the product line while at the same time reducing the cost of ownership and operation.

The AJ-SD755 features auto-format playback detection for seamless playback of DVCPRO, DVCAM, and DV format recordings (cassette adaptor required for mini-DV format cassette playback). This new deck offers an extremely fast and gentle tape handling mechanism, with tape cassette load-in time of three seconds and servo lock time of less that ¼ second. Audio volume control can be either Record or Playback level based upon the position of the front panel button. With the latest in D/A conversion technology jog audio for DV and DVCAM tapes can be exercised. This compact 4RU-size VTR can record 184 minutes in classic DVCPRO mode or up to 4.5 hours in DV Mode. The AJ-SD755 offers variable slow motion playback (-0.43X to =0.43X in reverse and normal speed) for clean, noiseless images, as well as other VTR tricks like Tape speed Override or Dynamic motion Control.

The AJ-SD755 performs fram-accurate editing and can control another machine for deck-to-deck frame accurate editing. Additionally, it offers extensive editing capabilities, including auto assemble, insert and manual editing, as well as preview, review and trim capabilities. The AES/EBU audio standard as are the analog inputs, composite, or component video.

An SDI Option, the AJ-YA755, is available to offer a full bandwidth SDI connection to high-end edit systems, or routing networks. There are three output connections on this option of which one is a Monitor Out and will allow superimposition of the User Menus and Time Code/Status Functions, eliminating the need for analog inputs on the video monitor to view the status of the VTR.

The optional FireWire interface, the AJ-YAD755, will allow any if the DV formats to pass through and much like the AJ-YAD455 will convert the DV signals on the fly to DVCPRO or DVCPRO to DV, making the AJ-SD755 an ideal machine to generate DVCPRO clones from archive worthy DV acquisition tapes.

Metadata Reader Included
A new feature added to this machine is the ability to display Metadata that has been recorded to the tape by the AJ-SDX900, provided it is in the DVCPRO format. With the aid of the optional GPS generator the AJ-SDX900 can record, Longitude, Latitude, Altitude and Greenwich Mean Time. This is recorded into the subcode area. In the video sense, it is data, or rather a Unique media identification Data, also known as UMID, about the video, and each frame has a unique identifier.
