Sony just announced the introduction of the new NIPROS/1 optical fiber studio system. This exciting new addition to Sony’s family of professional video production tools further continues to address the ever increasing demand for affordable high definition production solutions.

The new NIPROS/1 studio system is designed with small camcorders in mind. The system allows the adaptation of Sony HD Handycam® camcorders for use in studio operations and multi-camera field productions (AC or 12VDC operation). Now, together with the new PMW-EX3, full 1920x1080 HD productions are within the reach of smaller budgets, allowing more facilities to move up to high definition.

The NIPROS/1 optical studio system package includes a NIPROS PS570 base station unit, PS270 camera interface unit, LVM-35W 3.5” color LCD wide-screen return video monitor, two intercom headsets, as well as all necessary interface cables for connection of the camcorder to the PS270 camera interface unit.

The compact PS570 base station unit has a full complement of I/Os that will satisfy the most demanding applications. HDSDI output, Tally, intercom, and Genlock connectors are supplied, as well as SMPTE-type fiber optic cable connectors for direct connection to the PS270 camera interface unit. The one fiber optic cable connection transmits full 1920x1080 35 Mbps HD content from the camera for up to 2Km, as well as return video, teleprompter, genlock, intercom, camera remote control signals (using an optional RM-B150, RM-B750, or the new Sony RM-1000BP LANC camera control unit), and power to the camera from the base unit.
